RV Trip Advisor-Day 1

The Bund 外滩
A memorial which consists of three rifles stacked together to commemorate the deaths of heroes during the First Opium War, the Chinese Civil War and the Sino-Japanese War.

View from The Bund: Architectural buildings, such as other countries' banks and business offices, stretched opposite of The Bund. A distinct landmark, the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower(东方明珠) can be distinguished from these buildings.

An old historical building along The Bund built in the olden days when other countries, such as Germany and Japan, infiltrated Shanghai.

The Bund has a beautiful scenery of the economically prosperous Shanghai. It is in the heart of Shanghai which showcases the old and new Shanghai along both sides of The Bund. The buildings are old yet new at the same time. Old being historical buildings built by other countries in the olden days and new being the buildings are used to help improve Shanghai's economy because there are lots of hotels and business offices. You can visit The Bund for relaxation, such as strolling along The Bund with the refreshing air and cool wind. The experience at The Bund was not only relaxing but we also learn more about Shanghai's economy and history of The Bund. From these, we learn that Shanghai is China's major financial center because Shanghai is the most economically developed city in China which can be seen at The Bund.

Huang Pu Jiang 黄浦江
Ticket for boat ride along Huang Pu Jiang priced at ¥100 which is around S$25
On the deck of the boat crowded with people
Laser beams can be seen shooting out from the building
Prominent skyscraper, Oriental Pearl Tower, being the most striking feature among other buildings
Even the historical buildings are decorated with LED lights
Colourful, bright LED lights light up the night at Shanghai
Interior look of the boat taken during the ride: chairs for people to rest and admire the night scenery of the various buildings along Huang Pu Jiang

The boat ride along Huang Pu Jiang was generally nice. The scenery was breathtaking with all the colourful and bright LED lights shining all around, lighting up the night sky. We did nothing much except for taking pictures to remember the scenery. This view was just the night version of what we saw at The Bund during the afternoon. We heard from the tour guide that all the companies agreed to spend money on the LED lights because it attracts tourists. We have learnt so much more about Shanghai's contribution to China's economy from this. Overall, the boat ride along Huang Pu Jiang is a relaxing one but it is also quite boring because we can only see the buildings from a distance and do nothing else.

Shanghai Rayfont Xuhui Hotel 上海徐汇瑞峰酒店
Room in Shanghai hotel

We spent the first night in Shanghai hotel. The hotel looks quite old but the room has enough walking space. There is even a balcony outside when you open the sliding door. However, the view isn't so nice outside. After a long day of journey, we were already very tired so we just bathed and slept when we returned to the hotel room. The hotel is generally comfortable to stay in.
